Save-A-Lot, Ltd - Muncie
Muncie, Indiana Clayco completed its third project for Save-A-Lot, Ltd. - a 322,375-square-foot distribution facility in Muncie, Ind. Located on a 30-acre site in Park One/332, the $15 million facility was completed in 2001.

The sophisticated facility features six temperature zones to accommodate the storage of both perishable and dry goods. The 103,000-square-foot refrigerated zone includes a minus 10 F freezer, a 0 F freezer, a 28 F meat cooler, a 36 F cooler and a 55 F cooler. The chilled area has 32-foot clear-height ceilings and is served by 23 cold dock doors. Dry goods are stocked in a separate 210,000-square-foot area with 28-foot clear-height ceilings and 36 dock doors.

The facility was constructed using load-bearing tilt-up concrete panels, with insulated panels at the freezer and cooler areas. In addition to warehouse space, the building features 9,200 square feet of office space with a conference room, break rooms, a dispatch area and driver/warehouseman facilities.
