Clayco Cuts Ribbon on State-of-the-Art Gateway Plaza Office Building
$120 Million, 520,000-Square Foot Office Building Transforms Richmond Skyline
September 23, 2015 (Chicago) – Clayco – a full-service real estate development, architecture, engineering, design-build and construction firm – today joined Senator Tim Kaine and officials from the City of Richmond, Virginia to cut the ribbon on the $120 million, state-of-the-art Gateway Plaza office building. Clayco served as the turnkey developer, designer and builder on this project.

Clayco partnered with the City of Richmond and its main tenants are McGuire Woods and Townebank to make this project a reality. Going beyond the bricks and mortar, Clayco built Gateway Plaza as a launch pad to recognize the citizenry of the community, provide community outreach and put to work the local community builders and contractors. Clayco also ensured that 40 percent of the workforce was hired from underrepresented minority and women-owned businesses, a challenge that Clayco saw as a requirement, not merely a goal.
Gateway Plaza has transformed a previously barren, scarcely used surface parking lot into a striking high-rise building. With 520,000 square feet of Class “A” office space, this elegant 18-story tower is a powerful addition to the Richmond skyline and will propel the business district westward. Gateway Plaza will feature:

A new parking garage with more than 500 secure vehicle spots
