Clayco Hires Esteemed Attorney Carmen Hernandez As Vice President General Counsel
CHICAGO (Dec. 12, 2013) Clayco, a national innovator in the real estate development and design-build industry, announces the hiring of Carmen Hernandez as vice president general counsel. In this role, she will focus on litigation, risk avoidance, infrastructure pursuits, finance, and provide legal support for new transactions and business ventures from the Chicago office.

Prior to joining Clayco, Hernandez was a partner at Baker & McKenzie LLP, where she was also chair of the firm’s Financial Restructuring Practice Group in North America. She has more than 26 years of experience representing clients in complex commercial, real estate and business matters, and related litigation in U.S. courts.

Hernandez has been recognized as being in the Leading Lawyers’ Top 100 Women Business Lawyers from 2006-2013. She also serves as a board member of the Illinois Finance Authority, commissioner on the Great Lakes Commission and trustee for the Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation.
She received her juris doctorate from New York University, and her bachelor’s degree in political science and communications from Hunter Collegeof The City University of New York.
