Clayco Begins Construction of BJC Administrative Office Building

Building Will Consolidate Office Space Throughout the Main Hospital Campus

ST. LOUIS (November 27, 2012) – Clayco, Inc. has recently begun the construction of BJC Administrative Office Building (AOB) located in St. Louis’ CORTEX technology park. The project is expected to be completed by September 2013.

The 220,000-square-foot, five-story building will merge existing office facilities currently spread across BJC’s Kingshighway campus, allowing administrative functions to be carried out more easily in one central location.

Clayco and its architectural subsidiary, Forum Studio, were hired to perform design-build services for the core and shell of the building. With this method, the developer controls the design and development of core structures, such as mechanical, electrical and plumbing techniques.

“The architecture of this building is designed to complement the existing buildings in CORTEX Technology Park,” said John Sabo, Project Director. “Now that we have started the building process, our main task is to build a solid, core structure that will be completed on time and ready for use.”

This project will implement a tilt-up process in which walls are formed on a concrete slab on-site and erected using cranes. This process takes 2-3 months off the total project timeline.

Partners in this project include Forum Studio as the architect, Concrete Strategies Inc., and Rhodey & Son Construction, Inc., as the Women Business Enterprise handling all tenant finish work on the interior of the building.

Clayco has worked with BJC Healthcare on a variety of projects in the past.
