Washington University School of Medicine Data Center Expansion Declared a Winner

ST. LOUIS (January 10, 2013) – Clayco, Inc. is proud to announce their recent selection as a winner of the St Louis Council of Construction Consumers (SLCCC) Construction Industry Best Practices Award. The Washington University School of Medicine Data Center expansion, a Clayco project, was selected as a winner for the use of best practices implemented for the project.

Each submission is required to select three best practice areas from a list of 15 and explain how these techniques were implemented throughout the design, planning and building process.   Clayco’s award submission won for their use of constructability, team building and zero accident techniques.

The data center expansion doubles the size of the previous facility, which houses sophisticated computer networks that store massive amounts of data used to identify the genetic origins of cancer and other diseases. The expanded center will help accelerate the pace of genomics-based discoveries, one of Washington University’s distinctive research areas.

“This award is a great win for Clayco because the project is so unique and opens new doors in the process of genome discoveries,” said Rick Moeckel, Senior Project Manager. “It is an honor to play a role in such a groundbreaking scientific process.”

Clayco was honored at the SLCCC Best Practices and Diversity Awards Ceremony on Dec.13.
