Branch Will Be Built with Hurricane Precautions

CHICAGO (December 6, 2012) – Clayco, Inc. has begun work on a new 4,675-square-foot freestanding Keesler Federal Credit Union branch in Long Beach, Miss. The building is expected to be complete by April 2013.

The new branch will replace an existing store-front location and increase the branch’s ability to serve members with more convenient access and parking. It will also offer additional amenities to local credit union members such as drive-up tellers and safe deposit boxes, along with children’s area, coffee bar and drive-up ATM.

Due to its location near the Gulf Coast, the building will be equipped with a full emergency power back-up and impact resistant “hurricane” glass.

“Clayco is able to help Keesler address severe weather concerns by making the building more weather-resistant,” said Tom Mooney, Project Director. “Severe weather events are likely in this area, therefore constructing the building to withstand major weather events is extremely important.”

This building will use pre-cast concrete, where concrete is cast off-site, brought to the location and affixed to the structure of the building. The structure was designed using similar materials as previous branches built for Keesler, using architectural precast panels and a signature blue standing metal seam roof. “This will extend the Keesler brand and differentiate it from other credit unions in the area,” Mooney added.

Forum Studio served as the architect, along with OES as structural engineers, Stock as civil engineers and RCI as landscape architects.
