Clayco Chosen for South Division Credit Union Branch Expansion
Design-Build Project will More than Double Space, Add Member Services
Chicago, Ill. (August 12, 2011) – Clayco Inc. has been selected as the design-builder of an expansion of the South Division Credit Union at 9059 South Kedzie Avenue in Evergreen Park, Ill., a Southwest Chicago suburb.
The existing facility currently operates drive-up and teller services only. Its expansion will allow the credit union to offer its members easy access to a full range of financial products and services all in one location and with enhanced, modern service capabilities.
Project plans call for more than doubling the size of the existing structure with a modern glass and stone exterior that features high clerestory windows, a spacious lighted entrance and a unique blend of stone, stucco and architectural concrete reminiscent of the classic Illinois “prairie style,” but with more modern colors, materials and lines. Inside, the use of glass and dramatic heights adds to the sense of spaciousness, welcoming members to utilize and explore state-of-the-art banking equipment, private financial counseling and the credit union’s customary refreshment center.
The project just began in August 2011, and is on a fast-track schedule for completion in six months, with the drive-thru facility fully functioning throughout construction.
“Clayco is extremely pleased that South Division selected us for this expansion and renovation,” says Paul Barrath, Project Executive for Clayco Financial Facilities. “It is especially gratifying to know that we were awarded the project based partly upon the recommendation and work that we did for another credit union in the area, and that South Division trusts Clayco’s ability to minimize disruption during the construction and deliver a finished project that enhances its members’ experiences.”
Opened in 1935, South Division Credit Union operates five other branch offices in Chicago in addition to the Evergreen Park Main Office and this nearby drive-thru facility.
Along with Barrath, Clayco’s project team includes Tom Mooney as Project Director and John Haggerty as Project Manager. Forum Studio is the architect and interior designer.
