Clayco Inc. is developing the 76,000-square-foot home office and branch facility in Richland, Wash., for Gesa Credit Union, the largest financial cooperative in Southeastern Washington.
The new four-story financial facility will be located in Benton County’s City of Richland. The project is expected to be substantially completed within 14 months of ground breaking.
Clayco is designing the new home office and branch with sustainable strategies to achieve certification in the U.S. Green Building Council’s LEED® Green Building Rating System. This is the first credit union home office and branch facility in the state of Washington to be registered for LEED certification. Gesa Credit Union’s new facility will include a number of green design and construction features to positively impact the Tri-Cities community with sustainable items such as underground storm water detention system, rapidly renewable products including cork flooring and bamboo millwork.
“This project is extraordinarily exciting for Clayco because it is an example of how sustainable building practices are truly taking hold of the financial facilities industry,” said Paul Barrath, Business Unit Leader for Financial Facilities at Clayco and project executive on the Gesa Credit Union facility project. “Gesa’s new home office and branch facility demonstrate the credit union’s commitment and investment in its community and the broader environment. Furthermore, the new location proves how important it is for Gesa to bring quality, economical financial services to its members. Through this project, other financial institutions may appreciate the value sustainable design and construction and a commitment to consumers has on the success of any business.”
Clayco’s project team includes Darrell Lundsford, project manager; Bill Beck, project superintendent; Dean Wilcoxen; project architect; Kerry Schuette and Mackenzie Lucas, designers working as a team with Gesa Credit Union.
Gesa Credit Union has assets exceeding $748 million and is based in Richland, Washington. Since 1953, Gesa has made more than $2 billion in loans and now serves over 80,000 members.
