Clayco Inc. Selected As Going Green Honoree By Corp! Magazine

Clayco Inc. was recently selected as a Going Green Award recipient by Corp! Magazine, Michigan’s largest business magazine. Named Green Initiatives Champion, Clayco’s Detroit office has been honored for implementing green business practices in its own organization and supporting environmentally sustainable practices in its design and construction projects. The award recognizes businesses, community organizations and individuals throughout Michigan who have demonstrated exemplary efforts in environmentally-friendly initiatives and a commitment to contributions in technologies, products and services that promote green. The Corp! Going Green Awards are presented by Corp! Magazine, the Michigan Business and Professional Association and the Michigan Food and Beverage Association. “Clayco clearly demonstrates a dedication to green practices. Starting from within the company itself to urging its clients to consider utilizing appropriate green building elements and methods, Clayco has had unsurpassed success in the leadership, promotion and advancement of sustainable practices within the Michigan construction industry and many local communities,” said Paul Todd Merrill, P.E., LEED AP, Director of Sustainable Construction with Clayco. Recent clients who adopted green building practices with Clayco’s leadership include Fluor Corporation, Sysco Corporation, Washington University, the United States Postal Service and Payless ShoeSource, Inc. The Clayco team was also actively involved in the achievement of LEED NC v2.2 Gold Certification for Chevron Corporation’s new corporate headquarters in Covington, La. With over 50 Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) accredited professionals company-wide and four within the Detroit office, Clayco also employs sustainable practices in its own business operations and employee programs. For example, the company frequently hosts “LEED-AP-alooza,” a two-day training session for employees, clients, subcontractors, developers and building owners on the on the United States Green Building Council LEED AP Examination. Clayco will celebrate the honor at the publication’s Going Green Awards Breakfast on Tuesday, January 27, 2009, at the MSU Management Education Center in Troy, Mich.
