New Procter & Gamble Manufacturing And Distribution Facility Underway In Utah
St. Louis, MO (February 23, 2009)
Construction is underway on a new paper goods manufacturing and distribution plant in Brigham City, Utah, for The Procter & Gamble Company. St. Louis-based Clayco Inc. has been selected as the design-build contractor for structures which will house a majority of the manufacturing processes and the distribution center. Clayco, Inc. began work at the site in September 2008 and will wrap up the buildings in late fall 2009. The plant expects to begin manufacturing in 2010.
“We are very excited to work with Procter & Gamble on the new facility which will help expand their offerings to customers in the western United States marketplace,” said Dave Moses, executive vice president and partner at Clayco. “In addition, the company’s presence will provide excellent growth opportunities and an economic benefit to the surrounding communities.”
The Goldrush Project will be Procter & Gamble’s first greenfield project in the United States in 30 years. Greenfield projects are those built from scratch on undeveloped land, meaning the demolition or upgrade of existing facilities or site elements is not necessary.
The one-story manufacturing plant will include a 400,000-square-foot distribution center and state-of-the-art paper industry equipment. As the Cincinnati-based company’s sixth towel/tissue operations in the US, the paper goods facility will produce Bounty paper towels and Charmin toilet paper and will initially employ approximately 300 people.
Clayco’s project team includes Dave Moses, as project executive, Jeff Cannedy, as project director, and Tony Mezines, as project manager. Forum Studio, Inc. is the primary architect for the Clayco portion of the site. Joining Clayco and Forum Studio on the project are Alper Audi, as structural engineer; Gaylor Electric, as electrical engineer; Charles E. Jarrell Contracting Company, Inc., as mechanical engineer; and Shambaugh & Son, as fire protection engineer.
