Project Description

Clayco completed this 854,000-square-foot office/distribution facility for Baugh Northeast Co-op, Inc. Located in Front Royal, Va., this facility is unique among Clayco’s projects for SYSCO, serving as a re-distribution building that receives large quantities of product and redistributes them in smaller quantities to other operating companies and their distribution centers. It includes a central ammonia refrigeration system, a minus 10° F freezer and several multi-temperature coolers. The facility also features 12,000-amp electrical services and an enclosed rail dock, as well as a full fleet maintenance facility.

The facility is constructed of tilt-up concrete with insulated panels over a structural steel frame. Distribution areas have 36-foot to 40-foot clear-height ceilings zoned to accommodate the storage of frozen, perishable and dry goods. The building also features specialty floor slabs and underfloor warming systems. A two-story entry highlights the office portion of the facility.

The Front Royal facility is Clayco’s 10th project for SYSCO for a total of nearly three million square feet. In addition to the Front Royal facility, Clayco has completed SYSCO projects in Lewisville, Texas; St. Charles, Mo.; Rocky Hill, Conn.; Harrisburg, Pa.; Baltimore; Charlotte, N.C.; Jersey City, N.J.; and West Palm Beach, Fla.
